On April 4, 2008 Hope Fimiani, age 20-months, was diagnosed with AML, one of the most aggressive types of pediatric blood cancer. Seven days later, on April 11, 2008, Michael Sparkman, age 6, was diagnosed with B-cell Lymphoma, one of the most treatable forms of pediatric blood cancer. On October 13, 2008, Hope lost her battle. Seven days later, on October 21, 2008, Michael also lost his battle. While they each had a disease with a very different cure rate, the tragic result was the same: two children taken exactly six months and ten days after diagnosis.

Unfortunately, our families have experienced first hand the pain and sorrow of losing a child. Myself, Donna Sparkman and my partner, Dyana Fimiani came together in friendship, in mourning, and out of pain “A Spark of Hope” was born. The purpose of this charity is to give meaning to the battle that Michael and Hope fought so valiantly. Its mission is to raise public awareness, raise money for pediatric blood cancer research and to provide financial support to families faced with the same crisis. Our vision is to be “A Spark of Hope” in the lives of suffering families.

Proceeds from our 2nd annual independent fundraising initiative will be donated to The Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital for the ongoing research of pediatric blood cancers.

What would the world be like if everyone made choices out of love?? What if we started small? What if you could help give us the wings to fly? The 2nd annual  "Keeping Dreams Alive" event is on October 22, 2010 at Cappelli's Party Center on Mentor Ave in Mentor, Ohio. The event will include a dinner, drinks, dancing, a silent auction, a Chinese raffle and much more.
